5 Things - Monday February 21, 2005 @ 11:20 PM
Procrastination is key... especially when you have an exam tomorrow and you know there's really no point in studying anymore because you WILL fail. *cries* Stolen from Ted. 5 Things You May Not Know About My Time in School: 1. I dated two different people (at different times, mind you) from a high school I hated (because of their soccer team. That'd be South Carleton.) 5 Things You May Not Know About The Jobs I Have Had: 1. I worked as a "consultant" for a hospital, even though I was really only an archiver. 5 Things you May Not Know About My Online Life: 1. I did some REALLY minor hacking stuff when I was 12. 5 Things you May Not Know About Where I Live: 1. I live in a shithole on Bloor Street West in Toronto. 5 Things You May Not Know I Would Really Like to Have Are: 1. A decent amount of sleep every night. 5 Embarrassing Fannish Admissions 1. I've spent over $5000 on Buffy stuff since 1997 (books, dvds, magazines, magazine subscriptions, clothes, posters, vhs tapes, action figures, any type of paraphernalia, etc. You name it, I've got it. Well except for those 12 inch figures... those were a disaster...) That's a rough estimate though, it could be well over that. Alright so let's see, what else has happened lately with me? Hmmmm... Friday I saw Constantine on opening night with Alex. Hated it. Although Tilda Swinton as Gabriel was a perfect cast. She did wonders for the movie. But then we watched Saw at his place and I completely fell in love with that sick movie. The ending... I didn't even expect that to happen. Although slightly unrealistic (they would have heard in breathing for crying out loud!), had me absolutely floored. I was sitting there with my mouth hanging open and a sick grin on my face. Ah, there's nothing like a good horror movie! Saturday was spent with Cory at a mildly um... lame... Channel One acoustic show at CD Warehouse on Clyde. Actually, it was just Norris singing and playing the guitar to Channel One songs. The rest of the band just sat around and watched. Taste Your Words, my new favourite song, kind of lacks a bit of panache if played acoustically. Sidelined was in there as well. As was Breathing Space off their first demo CD (or whatever you want to call it.) I ended up buying a crapload of Buffy figures at The Comic Book Shoppe down the street from CD Warehouse. (My VISA bill is going to be hurting...) New design as you can see. I didn't put a whole lot of effort into it but for now it will suffice. I just needed a change from Sarah Michelle Gellar. Other than that, not much going on. The train back to Toronto was quiet, only about 30 minutes behind schedule (which is kind of becoming the standard for VIA trains, I'm not sure why.) And it's back to classes and schoolwork I go!
2. I swore I'd set off the fire alarm on the last day of high school. Unfortunately, because of our high school's ritualistic tequila sunrise (basically everyone goes out and gets absolutely PLASTERED the night before the last day of school and wanders around the neighbourhood the entire night while inciting riots and causing the cops to go nuts because they can't seem to keep an entire high school under control from 10pm until 7 am. hahaha). And because of Tequila Sunrise I could barely stand the last day and spent most of it dry heaving into the closest toilet.
3. I always sucked up to the french teachers because since I'm french, they MUST love me. haha
4. Except for grade 9, I played on the school's soccer team every year and managed to convince the coach I'd lost my jersey each year so I could keep them for myself. ;)
5. I passed out after having gave blood at the blood donor clinic and had the most amazing rush after "waking up" from it.
2. My dad ripped me off for three straight years before I realized that getting paid $4 an hour was NOT minimum wage for a secretary. (Damn slave labour!!!)
3. I met one of my closest friends (Ally) while working at Mailboxes Etc in Ottawa.
4. The longest I've ever worked for a company is almost two years and it's for Scotiabank (still an ongoing job.)
5. Working at MailBoxes Etc was probably the best job I've ever had.
2. At 11 years old, I charged up a $158 bill on AOHELL in the span of four days.
3. My first taste of online life was through Ottawa's freenet system and a Lynx browser when I was 10. (12 years ago now. Wow.)
4. I met my very first "internet friend" offline when I was 12.
5. For five years I went under the name "Nika Summers" online. However, when I hit my twenties I had an identity crisis about it and attempted to revert to my real name. It's a bit bizarre because relatively everybody in the Buffy fan world was familiar with "Nika" and now nobody knows who the fuck "Chelle" is. Very frustrating actually.
2. One of my roommates is clinically bi-polar and we do NOT get along.
3. I only know about 5 people in this building of 244 students. Sad eh?
4. Setting up the phone and internet line was the first thing I did when I moved in.
5. I live in the perfect location for commutting anywhere in Toronto
2. A sportsbike.
3. More friends in Toronto.
4. Free travel to anywhere in the world. (hah, not bloody likely.)
5. A cat.
2. I actually used the Star Wars theme music (with the Cantina tune tacked in the middle) for my figure skating routine when I was 14 years old, despite my coach practically begging me not to use it because it was too, and I quote, "man-ish."
3. Not only do I own Star Wars on VHS, but I've also got the original versions, the THX versions and the re-release special editions. I also finally caved and got the DVDs. (Although, they're blasphemous, they really should have been left untouched. *shakes fist in George Lucas' general direction*) I also had a short clip on beta, but I can't find it anymore...
4. I don't exactly consider this embarrassing, but some people might consider it to be. I have Faith's (from Buffy) tattoo on my lower back. Click for: | My Tattoo | Faith's Tattoo |
5. I can't think of a 5th item that's sufficiently geeky. But rest assurred that I'm quite the dork.
Don't cry, Chelle! Even if I've never met a woman, I hate to see a lady cry.
Hey, sheyt happens - don't beat yourself up over it; sometimes one's efforts are all that matters, especially if one tries their best.
DAMNIT! I'm starting to sound like my Great Grandmother! :-)
Seriously, hang in there - break a leg, as they say...
Cheers,
Ted

Lol your Embarrassing Fannish Admissions are almost identical to mine. Except I danced to the Cantina theme in a Rock Eisteddford while dressed as a sluttly waitress XD
